They made the place common and the cut corners on all consumables. This is a reflection of the management and owners. Thinking that we were going to enjoy great food at this property in hind site was a joke. The Salt grill did have some good bites and were the saving grace of meals. The goal is to get you to pay 3-10x what wine normally costs. You can get wine by the glass as included but you need to ask for it specifically. An $60 bottle of Amerone was priced at $300. Wine that we pay $12-$15 for at home started at $100USD. Be aware that if you want to sit by the window in the Italian place, you need to buy a bottle of wine that will run you a few hundred dollars. The Italian place was better but left us feeling badly 2-3 hours after the meal and the menu lacked Italian offerings. The food must have been severely restricted to save money - budget junk was served. The food was common at best and did not even meet the standard of fast food. The video reviews on the steakhouse were blatant misrepresentations. Also, oddly enough, finding good Mexican food is almost impossible. BTW- there is not much near this place to eat and getting a referral is hard. We resorted to room service for breakfast, salt grill for lunch and trying the restaurants at dinner only to give up and try to find places off site. Overcooked, under seasoned, lukewarm, terrible, terrible, terrible. With a very few exceptions, it was worse than a budget cafeteria. The biggest issue in our opinion was the food. Beverage service in the preferred area was good but severely lacking in the common pool areas and you should expect to take care of your own needs. This appears to be a money saving tactic. Drink review - the drinks throughout our stay were lacking taste and strength unless there were specific requests. The resort overall was clean and in good shape even though signs of wear were all over. The room faced the Hard Rock and there is definitely music late into the night so take earplugs if you need them. We did get some changes made (thanks to Derek) and that made it acceptable. The minibar fridge needed to be made colder and the contents were anything but high end. The in room doors were worn and some did not stay closed. Rooms - the preferred club room was nice but showed signs of wear. They appear to have lost site of the resort side of the business and are driving profits through selling and then severely trimming service at the resorts. AM Resorts must make millions off of this scheme and their credibility as a resort company should be questioned. It's a money mill that completely disrespects the guests time and intelligence. They also move you around while handing you off to other sales people. The memberships are a lot like timeshare sales that start very expensive and get cheaper every time you say no. It is optional but the hook was 80 minute massages which also were lacking in quality. Plan to spend 2-1/2 hours being bombarded by at least 5 people on why you want to join their membership. There is a sales presentation that is disguised as coupons that you can use at the property. ![]() ![]() Very friendly and the best part of the resort. Examples include bringing juice after the normal hours and bringing food from one area of the resort to another area that it normally does not serve. The staff was very good and found ways to say yes to any reasonable request. We chose the destination based on all of the available information and the high marks that the property got. All of the YouTube reviewers raved about the food and and resort. Before choosing this property, we read and watched more than 20 reviews and concluded (after verifying with Costco Travel in home we are very disappointed) that this was easily in the top 5 resorts in Cancun. We just returned from 4 nights in a Preferred Club room and wanted to share what we thought before we arrived versus what we got while there.
